In contrast, titanium, cast iron, stainless steel, and ceramic-coated cookware offer safer, more durable alternatives. Titanium provides a non-reactive, highly durable surface without chemical coatings that can withstand metal utensils and can be washed in a dishwasher. Cast iron is naturally nonstick when seasoned and can withstand metal utensils but can be heavy and must be hand-washed. Stainless steel is non-reactive, long-lasting, and free of chemical coatings but can be challenging to clean. Ceramic-coated cookware offers easy food release without PFAS or traditional nonstick materials but requires the use of silicone or wooden utensils as the surface can be easily scratched by metal.
